Schools

All The Skills believe that the Arts  play a vital role in a child's education and that they can be used to engage children with all aspects of the curriculum.

All of our artists have experience of working in schools with children and young people of all ages. We are also able to provide artists who are confident working with pupils who have physical disabilities and/or special educational needs.

Before forming All The Skills Sean was a secondary school teacher and is knowledgeable about the National Curriculum. He is able to identify with teachers and provide workshops which meet National Curriculum learning objectives.

Naomi has worked extensively in primary and secondary schools delivering workshops to complement the curriculum as well as providing after school activities. As the former Education Officer at Oldham Coliseum Theatre she has extensive knowledge of how performing arts can be used in educational settings to deliver and enrich the curriculum.

The sessions below can be booked as one off sessions, weekly sessions as part of an after school or lunch time club or a project lasting from several weeks to several months. All The Skills can also provide creative professional development training for staff and performers for school fairs and open days.

Drama Sessions
In these sessions pupils learn drama and performance skills such as creating a character, devising a scene, script work and improvisation. These workshops develop pupils speaking and listening skills and can be used to develop literacy.

Drama sessions can also be used to explore a theme chosen by the client to compliment what the class are currently studying. These could include history, science and geography topics.  Our issue based workshops can be used to explore Citizenship topics at primary and secondary level.

For secondary schools and colleges we offer audition technique workshops suitable for those applying to drama school and the opportunity to learn from professional actors in workshop and question and answer sessions.

Film making and animation
These workshops run by an award winning film maker can be used to deliver or enrich pupil’s learning right across the curriculum.  Pupils can learn how to make their own documentary, create animations using stop motion or “claymation” or even produce their own short film or music video.

A popular option is working with pupils to produce a promotional video for your school website or as part of your transition resources.

Knife and Edged Weapons Awareness Programme
All The Skills are pleased to announce that they are now able to provide a “Knife and Edged Weapons Awareness Programme” (KEWAP) specially designed for under 18s. Due to the number of knife related crimes in the U.K. involving young people it is now widely thought that educating those under 18 about the dangers and implications of carrying a knife is essential.

The KEWAP programme is an ideal resource for the Key Stage 3 and 4 Citizenship syllabus which includes the topics of “Youth Crime” looking at young people as both the victims and perpetrators of crime and “The U.K. Justice System.”

The under 18s “Knife and Edged Weapons Awareness Programme” lasts approximately 90 minutes and includes a classroom based activity and a section where participants are taught practical life saving skills including deflection and escape techniques. It is important to recognize that these skills are NOT fighting or martial arts techniques but potentially life saving measures.

Our specially trained instructor will assess participants and award each person a Trident Self-Defence/KEWAP certificate of attendance.
